A free classroom timer for your projector or smartboard
Pick 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes and the timer starts and fills the classroom screen in one click. It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install, no account, and nothing for IT to approve.
Put a timer on screen
Pick a length — the timer starts on the clock below and fills the screen in the same click. No signup, nothing to install.

The example counts to January 1 — pick a preset above for a minutes timer, or set your own date in the builder. The fullscreen button sits in the clock's bottom-right corner.

Three steps, and the last two happen in a single click.
Open this page on the classroom computer
The one connected to the projector, smartboard, or classroom TV. It is a web page, so a school Chromebook or a locked-down PC works too.
Pick a length
5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The timer starts the moment you click.
It fills the screen on its own
The same click takes the timer full screen. Press Esc to come back out, or pick another length to restart it.
5 minute and 10 minute classroom timers
Most classroom timing is short and repeated: a few minutes to settle, ten for a task, five to tidy up. The presets are built for that. Each click starts a fresh timer from that moment, so you can run the same 10 minute timer three times in a lesson without setting anything up.
- A 5 minute timer for a do-now, a warm-up, or a quick write
- A 10 minute timer for group work, stations, or a partner task
- A countdown on the board while students finish a quiz or a test
- Brain breaks and movement breaks with a clear end
- Clean-up and transition time, so the room can see how long is left
- Silent reading or independent work in 15 or 30 minute blocks
A visual timer the whole class can read
A classroom visual timer works because everyone can see how much time is left without asking. Full screen, the digits here grow to fill the display, and the background color runs edge to edge, so the number is readable from the back of the room.
It shows time as numbers, not as a shrinking colored disc. For students who read the clock, that is the clearer signal. For toddlers and pre-readers, a disc-style visual timer for kids is often the better fit.

Whiteboard
Dark digits on white — readable from the back row on a dim projector.
Chalkboard
Soft white on green for a calm screen during independent work.
Test Time
Plain black on white with nothing extra — for quizzes and exams.
Brain Break
Bright yellow that tells the room this is the fun part.
Clean Up
High-contrast blue for transitions, tidy-up, and lining up.

The same full screen clock counts down to dates as well as minutes — the days until winter break, spring break, or graduation make a good standing display between lessons.
Classroom timer FAQ
Quick answers to what teachers ask most about an online classroom timer.
Is there a free classroom timer online?
Yes — this one. It runs in the browser, costs nothing, and has no account, no ads over the timer, and no time limit. Pick a length and it starts.
How do I put a timer on my classroom screen?
Open this page on the computer connected to your projector, smartboard, or TV and pick a length. The timer starts and goes full screen in the same click, so the whole class can see it. Press Esc when you are done.
How do I set a 5 minute or 10 minute classroom timer?
Click 5 min or 10 min at the top of the page. The timer counts down from that moment and fills the screen. There are also 15, 30 and 60 minute buttons for longer activities.
Can I set a timer for a length that isn't a preset?
Yes. Open the builder from the Customize button, set the exact end time you want, and give it a title like Test Ends In or Lunch. It counts down to that time, full screen like the presets.
Does the classroom timer make a sound when it ends?
No. It is silent and stops at zero, so it will not startle a room mid-test. If you want an audible signal, keep your own bell or chime handy for when the numbers run out.
Is this a visual timer for kids?
It is a large, high-contrast countdown in numbers, which works well for students who can read time. It is not the shrinking colored-disc style that some younger children and students with additional needs find easier, so for pre-readers and toddlers a disc-style timer may suit better.
Will it work on a school Chromebook or a computer IT has locked down?
Usually, yes. There is nothing to download or install and no admin rights needed. If your school can open ordinary websites, it can open this one.
Can students see the timer on their own devices?
Yes. Use Share this timer to get a link and send it to the class. Everyone sees the same countdown on their own screen, ending at the same moment.
